Originally published in the 1870s as a dime novel and then re-published in 1908 as a nickel weekly, Wild Tom of Wyoming is number 17 of the beloved Beadle’s Frontier Series.

This particular issue is a story about two private detectives chasing an outlaw leader of a notorious gang who has kidnapped a young New York girl while she was traveling in the West and brought her to his frontier hangout.  When the two detectives run into a cavalry lieutenant and his hunting guide—“Old Zeke”—the four men team up to save the girl and defeat the outlaws.

At more than 35,000 words, this work of fiction, besides being an interesting and fun read, gives the reader a taste of what the masses were reading in the late 19th and early 20th century time period.
